About Us
NORTHERN - CROSSOVER - MODERN
The Cream of Manchester, Home Run Soul Club is an across-the-board soul club with a residency at one of the city’s premier venues; the Grade II listed Kimpton Clock Tower (formally the Palace Hotel).
After hosting many great soul nights in Refuge Basement Bar, we're now putting on an annual weekender event every October, alongside various other events throughout the year.
The Home Run Soul Club hosts have been digging deep for twenty years, bringing people together on dancefloors across the UK and Europe. Built form humble beginnings, Home Run Soul Club is the latest collective project that began back in 2008 with one of the city's most beloved nights, The Beat Boutique which played host to the very best DJs from the global soul scene.
While the residents and venues have evolved over the years, our philosophy remains unchanged – great venues, amazing music, unforgettable parties!
THE REFUGE
Formerly known as the Palace Hotel, and prior to that the Charterhouse Hotel, the Grade II listed Principal Manchester building on Oxford Street has been known for most of its life as the Refuge Assurance Building and is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
Following its renovation in 2016, The Refuge has established itself as one of Manchester’s most impressive spaces be it to eat, stay, drink and dance. Located underneath the main bar is The Vault, and it’s in this space where you’ll find Home Run Soul Club and it couldn’t be more fitting for a soul night!
We’re lucky enough to have a long lasting relationship with this special building having hosted the the 2011 European Soul Weekender there, where the likes of Mick H (Lifeline), Marc Forrest (Hip City Soul), Christian Punky (Soultastic), Matt Fox (Soul City) and many others were brought together for the very first time and filled the Palace Ballroom with that sweet soul sound.
The Residents
Home Run Beer
SEVEN BRO7HERS from Salford are a forward thinking brewery very much at the heart of the Manchester brewing scene and we couldn’t be more delighted to have them play a part in Home Run Soul Club. Not just simply because it’s well… great craft beer that’s brewed locally, but regular Home Run DJ Andy Evans is a brewer there.
So if Andy is not busy buying records for your listening pleasure, he’s busy making beer for your drinking pleasure!
